Art Editions

Contemporary Art Editions for Sale. In 1896, Ambroise Vollard began publishing Bonnard, Vuillard, and Renoir in small, signed and numbered editions, creating almost by accident a genuinely new category of artwork: original and reproduced at once. That same structure, involving artist, printer, publisher, and signature, governs every one of the 500+ fine art editions here. Each print, photograph, and sculptural multiple is conceived by the artist as an original artwork in its own right, signed, numbered, and produced in collaboration with the artist’s studio, by artists held in the permanent collections of MoMA, Tate, and the Centre Pompidou.

What are art editions?

Art editions — sometimes called artist editions — are original artworks produced in a defined, finite number of examples: prints, photographs, multiples, and works on paper created through an artist-approved process. What separates a single art edition from an ordinary copy is a small, deliberate gesture: the artist signs and numbers each individual impression, converting what would otherwise be an unlimited reproduction into a declared, finite set. That fraction — 17/75, say — bounds the edition to a fixed size, distinguishes one impression from its siblings, and extends the trust normally reserved for unique works onto something produced in multiple. Each edition maintains a direct connection to the artist's hand and vision, whether produced through traditional printmaking, photographic processes, or contemporary casting techniques.

At MLTPL, we specialise in fine art editions by museum-collected contemporary artists, many of them biennial-exhibited and held in major public collections. Our selection of artist edition prints spans lithographs, etchings, screenprints, archival photographs, and sculptural multiples, sourced directly from artists, estates, publishers, and galleries.

Unlike reproductions, art editions are conceived as original artworks in their own right. They form part of the artist's official catalogue and are typically signed, numbered, and accompanied by documentation confirming their authenticity and provenance.

For collectors, art editions offer a compelling combination: the artistic depth of museum-level practice at price points that make meaningful collecting possible.
