Cecily Brown (b. 1969, British) is internationally recognized as one of the most influential figures in contemporary painting. Her practice explores the balance between figuration and abstraction, drawing inspiration from the dramatic compositions of Baroque art as well as the gestural intensity of Willem de Kooning and Francis Bacon. Brown's paintings and prints are characterized by vigorous brushwork, layered surfaces, and a dynamic visual language that is both evocative and elusive.
