Thomas Demand (born 1964 in Munich, Germany) is a renowned German artist whose distinctive practice bridges sculpture and photography, creating large-scale photographic artworks that explore memory, perception, and the construction of images. Initially trained as a sculptor, Demand developed a unique method of building detailed paper models of spaces and objects, which he then photographs before destroying the models, leaving the photograph as the final artwork.
