Daniel Richter (German, born 1962) is a central figure in contemporary painting, widely recognized for his large-scale artworks and signed limited edition prints that move between abstraction and figuration. Rising to prominence in the 1990s German art scene, Richter initially worked in a purely abstract mode before introducing figurative and narrative elements in the early 2000s. This shift marked a decisive expansion of his practice, allowing political, social, and psychological themes to enter his visually charged compositions.
Richter's artworks draw on a broad range of source material, including mass media imagery, popular culture, historical references, and underground political movements.
