Artwork details
Tunji Adeniyi-Jones’s Poetic Feet is a vibrant limited-edition print inspired by his 2021 oil-on-canvas painting of the same name (203.2 x 142.2 cm). The artwork, available for sale, showcases the artist’s signature blend of bold color, fluid forms, and dynamic compositions, featuring intertwined figures that evoke themes of movement, rhythm, and mythology.
Drawing on his Nigerian heritage and a modernist aesthetic, Adeniyi-Jones creates a captivating celebration of vitality and cultural storytelling through his graceful, otherworldly imagery.
About this artist
“I really want to show balance and grace, at all times, and a composure and a confidence. I don’t want these figures to feel like they have anything to prove. (...) I’m actively trying to negotiate that with what I’m seeing around me and then deal with that in the work and try to free the figures of that tension.” - Tunji Adeniyi-Jones Tunji
Tunji Adeniyi-Jones (born 1988, Lagos, Nigeria) is a London-based contemporary artist known for his distinctive fusion of figuration and abstraction. After moving to the UK at the age of ten, he studied at Central Saint Martins and later at the Royal Academy Schools, graduating with an MA in 2016 and receiving the prestigious Jack Goldhill Award for Painting. His contemporary artworks have since gained international recognition for their bold visual language and complex engagement with identity, movement, and myth.
Adeniyi-Jones’ paintings are characterized by rhythmic compositions, saturated color, and stylized, often fragmented bodies that intertwine with botanical and geometric forms. Drawing on West African art histories, diasporic narratives, and modernist abstraction, his artworks operate as layered visual systems that balance ornament, symbolism, and spatial tension. The figures frequently appear suspended within dynamic, patterned environments, creating compositions that feel both ceremonial and futuristic.
Alongside his paintings, Tunji Adeniyi-Jones has produced limited edition prints that translate his intricate line work and chromatic intensity into fine art editions. These prints extend his exploration of repetition, gesture, and bodily form, offering collectors access to his evolving visual vocabulary within contemporary art. His artworks have been exhibited internationally, including presentations at major institutions and galleries, confirming his position as one of the most compelling voices in contemporary painting and printmaking.
